THINKING INVOLVES NOT ONLY THE FLOW OF THOUGHTS, BUT THEIR ARREST AS WELL

phase 1:
the surveyor (2007/8)

from the end of 2007 to summer 2008, we collected documentary material at alexanderplatz in berlin. our goal was to compile a set of documents which would make visible the microcosms threatened by insistent macrodevelopments being undertaken in the interest of whom? ... or what?

through the exposure of subjectivities which are otherwise systematically filtered out of urban experience by design, we intended to erode the clean facade of the metropolis. alexanderplatz was particularly interesting, since it offered the chance to act before the facade had been realized in its entirety. (related: manifesto 2008)

part 2:
surveyed (2010)

our work was unexpectedly interrupted by eviction, and after a period of nomadism, we recently began to sift through the remains of our life in the square.

our current interpretations evidence a rethinking of the nature of documentary works, particularly the roles played by fiction and lies.
